After progeria & asperger’s syndrome this time it is schizophrenia & MPD (multiple personality disorder). Well… mental disorders seem to be the new theme in Bollywood. Not that MPD hasn’t been attempted in the industry earlier.

Is this to sympathize with those challenged or is it for the awareness of the masses. Your guess is as good as mine.

As we know Farhan selects very unique and powerful plots, this one set to reveal the power of the mind. Basically it’s all in the mind, our powers, our weaknesses & our ability etc.

With the very beautiful direction each parallel in the movie is depicted with a simple to relate structure. The rubic cube, boys at the traffic signal, kids at the game... each of them unwind the mystery in the story. Due to this the movie becomes fast to cope up to and jumps the guns a couple of time.

The first half feels like watching an Aladdin’s movie where all the leads wishes get completed. Believe in your self, Learn to say No, Standup for yourself, Forgive yourself for the mistakes in past, Lock your mind & Try try till you succeed are some of the key learning areas of success gathered from this movie.

Farhan’s class of act is a real hats off & Deepika’s skin show is the cherry on the cake.

Toh Baat Pakki

An outdated plot which deals with the marriage in a silly manner which went out of style a decade or more ago. With the old Palanpur as the backdrop; poor script, screen play and dialogue delivery, have no idea why an actor like Tabu choose to act in this after many years of absence. Cant guess the loss Sharman made by opting for this movie over others. Vatsal had no emotional display and crawled thru the movie with a blank face, which is still a surprise as his TV series was a good hit and ran thru on his little shoulders. Believe with the ten years gap, he has lost the touch.

The movie is worth a miss.

My name is Khan

My name is Khán.. Kháán.. Rizvan Khán; from the epiglottis Kháán.

The film broke box office records and has had a Rs 250 million collection from the first Friday itself. eBay auctioned the tickets for a record price of EUR 1,000 (INR 60,000) each & all the tickets were sold out in five seconds.

In principle the movie is about humanity; in illustration about Islam and the way the world looks at Islam post 9/11 & the attempt is to get an apology from the authority who imbibed this thought into people. As Rizvan says he can “repair almost anything”, the movie leaves you with the sagacity of refurbished human relationships.

The movie is not about terrorism or religion, it’s a disabled man’s fight against the disability that exists in the world.

As per the grapevine, any talk on a 9yr old topic is claimed outdated, but the recent obstacles faced by SKR in real life go to say this movie is still needed as to put in place the last bricks and complete the bridge. The bridge that maps all caste and creed as one; “there are only two types of people, good and bad” – MINK.

On a lighter note, when I say Kareena Kapoor, Shabana Azmi & Aamir Bashir, would you think there is any link to this movie? These are the names of the starts who were replaced by Kajol, Zarina Wahab & Jimmy Shergill’s position respectively.

Kajol’s effortless lighthearted liveliness brings a softer tone to the movie.

All in all a very important global awareness script and beautiful attempt by the three K’s.

I asked many who had seen this movie to describe their experience. They were out of words… Let me extend a helping hand…

“Fantastic, Outstanding, Spectacular, Fantabulous, Splendid, Extraordinary, Unusual, Marvelous, Golden, Phenomenal, Over The Top !!! ”

This is what each of you should have said.

I would say even more if you watch it at IMAX 3D, it is an out of the world experience; you have to see it to believe it.

Its increasing popularity has made it the fastest movie to reach the $1 billion mark at the box office (obviously; I had to wait for three weeks to get a decent seat).

Now let’s come to the storyline, does it have some thing equally extravagant to offer… well lets see…

Take the concept of another world from ‘Star Wars’, the bases of fighting for power – ring/stone from ‘Lord of the Rings’, the soul transporting ideology from ‘Matrix’, the thick forest implantation from ‘Jurassic Park’, the dragons that ‘Harry Potter’ defeated, the scary animals from ‘Dog Soldiers’, flying the magic carpet as per your thought like in ‘Aladdin’, the floating mountains from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, rules of adding new members into family from ‘Ants’, huge machinery for destruction from ‘Toy Story’, man driven robots like in ‘Transformer’, add the lessons from the Chinese belief of ancestor’s voice of help from trees, spice all this with some Indian epic colors, wrap into a digital bonanza and Voila! We have a release.

When James Cameron wrote the script way back in 1994 it was something all together different, then how come the dramatic change in the plot? Outsourcing – James released the script on the internet and was free for people to add. It’s a one big world, one big family and you should know how to make the best out of it.

All in all hats-off to James for being sensitive on the cinematography, the entire movie was developed to be ready for release in 2006, but at the end James canceled it all by saying that the technology hasn’t matured enough to match his imagination.

He re-shot it using his own reality camera system to film in 3-D. He used two high-definition cameras in a single camera body to create depth perception. Beautiful man... just incredible…

Would recommend watching this at the IMAX 3D screen only.
